This half term we are learning all about the cardiovascular system – we have learned about the heart and the vessels and today we created our own blood model. The water represented the plasma, the red orbeez show the red blood cells, the white k’nex represents white blood cells and platelets are represented by the orange k’nex. We know all about these cells’ functions and understand how they support our bodies to function.

USF TTRockstars Tournament
Sycamore class topped the leaderboard in a federation-wide times tables tournament. They correctly answered a whopping 131, 087 times table questions between them. 5 children (Finn, Joel, Oliver L, Jack and Freddie) in our class also came in the top ten individuals in the whole federation with Freddie topping the leaderboard.
What a fantastic result Year 6! Keep it up for the next tournament and all of the remaining battles this year.
Leaver’s Hoodies
The much anticipated leaver’s hoodies have finally arrived and everyone is very excited to be able to start wearing them!
The football season has finally started for Year 6!
Today, the Year 6 football team played their first cup game. They played as an incredible team and showed superb sportsmanship all the way through. Despite being beaten 6-2, they showed great skill and promise for the rest of the season.
It’s Taiko time!
Year 6 were very excited to know that the delivery of Taiko drums that arrived just before Christmas was for them to continue to develop their skills in this art form. Today was their first session back behind the drum and after a few rusty performances, they found it was just like riding a bike. We are looking forward to developing much more complicated motifs this year and adding in some choreography too.
January Lunch Club
Another four fantastic Year 6 ambassadors visited the Ipplepen Lunch Club today. They provided a wonderful service to all in attendance and were privileged enough to be rewarded with cuddles from the guide dog and a portion of Mrs Lacey’s sticky toffee pudding.
A New Year of Health and Fitness
Year 6 had a fantastic start to the new year. They all returned refreshed and energised, with smiles on their faces and tackled all of the days learning head-on.
This half term, one of their PE units links very closely with their topic and saw them finishing their first school day of 2024 with a circuit session. There will be some sore muscles in the morning!
